We’re getting married

Gavin and Avah met when both their churches came together for summer camp in 2020. Gavin immediately caught Avah’s eye, with his dark curly hair and big brown eyes! She was impressed by Gavin’s obvious love for the Lord and his musical abilities, as she watched him playing his guitar one night at the campfire. On Gavin’s end, Avah took his breath away, as he observed her playing volleyball, worshipping, and talking with her friends, but he wasn’t able to muster up the courage to talk to her. After camp Avah made the bold decision to make the first move and reach out to him through Instagram. Although she had an interest and put effort into engaging in the conversation…the same enthusiasm did not seem to be reciprocated. Realizing this, she started to take the hint…he wasn’t interested. Of course, later she’d learn, that wasn’t the case, it simply wasn’t God's timing as neither were anywhere near ready for what God had planned for them. He was using that time to allow them both to pursue Him before they started pursuing each other. In June of 2022, after graduating, Avah and Gavin attended their final camp as high schoolers. At this point, they had not seen or talked to each other for a whole year. So, when Avah saw him at camp, she didn’t really give him much thought. Little did she know though, Gavin couldn’t stop thinking of her! A month after camp, on July 18th, Avah got a random but purposeful message from Gavin. She was baffled, yet pleasantly surprised. They started talking, but this time it felt different because Gavin was doing the initiating and pursuing. After a few weeks of texting, calling, and even hanging out, he knew he wanted to ask her out on a date. She didn’t have to think twice about her answer. Their first date took place on August 1st, 2022 and from that point on they started dating. Fast forward two years later, after taking time to pursue the Lord and each other, they knew they wanted to take the next step. On November 21st, 2024, Gavin proposed inside a gazebo, decorated beautifully with flower petals and candles. Avah of course excitedly said yes! When it came time to pick a wedding date, they decided on August 1st, the anniversary of their first date. They are so excited to do life together, to follow the Lord hand in hand, and to continue to pursue one another for the rest of their days.
