Jon and Ava met in the summer of 2022 in Austin—because nothing says “thriving” like willingly moving to Texas in July. Jon was 21, fresh out of college, and still naive enough to think apartment hunting could be fun. That’s when Ava spotted a tall, skinny guy and told her dad, “Look at that tall guy.” That tall guy—Jon—saw Ava, turned to his roommate, and delivered one of the most romantic lines in modern history: “Dibs.” Naturally, Jon and his roommate sat directly across from Ava and her parents, because nothing says “charming” like inserting yourself into a family outing. Ava ignored him… until he mentioned CU Boulder. Suddenly, she was deeply engaged in the conversation. They talked for a bit, said goodbye… and then Jon reappeared at her next bar 30 minutes later.
