It all started with a swipe...well, it actually started in the Berkshires at Camp Lenox where Ava and Andrew (let's call them A&A for short) both spent their summers as kids. A&A weren't necessarily 'friends' at camp, they knew of each other but never really interacted. Ava was a year older and camp-obsessed (still is), spending 11 summers at Lenox - 8 as a camper and 3 as a counselor, while Andrew attended for 4 summers as a camper, mainly for the sports (is anyone surprised?). Little did they know that almost 10 years later (2021) they'd 're-meet' on a dating app (Hinge) and would be getting married 4 years after that (see the camp photo below from 2010 - who would've thought?!). Ava chose the first date bar - Pete's Candy Store, since Andrew agreed to trek to the unknown world of Williamsburg, Brooklyn from his apartment in Chelsea. Andrew would later tell Ava that he hated the bar she chose because it was too crowded, loud, and didn't have a great beer selection (Ava really didn't know Andrew then did she...oh the simpler days!). They quickly hit it off and scheduled their 2nd date the upcoming weekend, the day after running into each other at the Rutgers vs. Wisconsin football tailgate - Wisconsin obviously crushed. It was when Andrew chugged a beer luge so Ava could get her hands on a coveted New Glarus Spotted Cow beer that she knew - he was the one. When did Andrew know Ava was the one? It had to be when he spontaneously asked her to forego her New Years plans a week in advance…to travel with him for 24 hours to Jacksonville, FL…for the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl to watch Rutgers lose to Wake Forest (Rutgers only made it because Texas A&M got Covid 8 days before playing). That's when Andrew knew, Ava was the one. Don't worry friends & family, Ava now has a forever pass for any Rutgers game she doesn't want to attend JUST because she made that 24 hour trip - it's called the 'long-game' people. After that, A&A began to build their life together. Over the next three years they would explore the streets of Williamsburg and NYC, trying countless restaurants and bars (they are certified foodies), travel to Asheville, Boston, Maine, Texas, Florida, Caribbean, Mexico, London, Lisbon, Vancouver, and more. Ava would learn how to 'cruise' with the Schwartz family - a true art form. They would welcome their two beautiful sons...*cough cough* I mean cats (Leo & Ace), Andrew would bribe Ava with their 2nd cat (Ace - named after the then unsigned Rutgers basketball recruit...risky move) and move in together in Hoboken (yes Andrew successfully bribed a native NYC gal to move to Jersey), and get engaged in February 2024. As for what's next, they can't wait for their wedding in October 2025 and are looking forward to celebrating with their friends and family (YOU) who they love so dearly. Thank you for coming on this journey with us! xoxo A&A
