Jon and I both grew up in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. Although we attended middle school and a portion of elementary school together, as far as we remember we never really interacted with one another until high school. Jon was a grade ahead of me growing up, and we officially met at the fair the summer before my junior year. Typically, neither of us fully trust the rides at small town fairs, but we did decide the ferris wheel was a pretty safe bet. The memorial on the seat ahead of us turned out to be a great icebreaker (something we still bring up to this day) and we continued to enjoy each other's company, not just for the remainder of the Barron County Fair, but for the rest of the summer as well. We spent time floating the river, evenings at the drive-in theater, and in the company of our friends. Jon and I got to experience the rest of high school together, and spent the years following driving to see each other on the weekends while we both pursued our educations and careers in separate cities. Time goes by incredibly fast, and before we knew it we had been dating long-distance for a majority of our relationship. Finally, I was able to relocate to Rice Lake for work and we were able to move into our first place together. It has been so special to see one another regularly, share our favorite holiday traditions at home, and enjoy life's normal mundane things together. On October 9, 2021 we enjoyed a Halloweeny day at the pumpkin patch followed by a fire with a few of our friends. Just after the sun had set and we lit our jack-o-lanterns, Jon proposed. Being as nosey as I am, I was shocked that Jon managed to genuinely surprise me (and hide the ring in our house for 3 months prior). Now, here we are, engaged and planning our wedding. When we get married we will have been together for 10 years (which is actually insane, I swear we just graduated high school). We have loved our life together thus far, and are looking forward to what the future holds. We are SO excited and cannot wait to share this special day with you all!
