Question

What should I wear to the wedding ceremony?

Answer

Our wedding dress code is formal attire. Think suits, gowns, etc. The ceremony will take place at our local church, so please dress accordingly. We kindly request that you omit from wearing denim and any offensive or revealing attire. Women are welcome to wear colorful gowns (colors will be pinks, greens, yellow, orange, magenta, burgundy) and bring a shawl if desired. Men are welcome to wear light or dark colored suits (with or without a tie) and tuxes. Please keep in mind that the reception will be outdoors.

Question

What should I expect from a Catholic Mass?

Answer

A Catholic Mass typically lasts one hour and is made up of various readings, songs, prayers and the Eucharist (also known as Communion). Towards the end of Mass will be the Communion procession. All are welcome to line up and accept Communion, if they have previously, or receive a blessing from Monsignor Halsema. You can do this by crossing your arms over your chest as you approach the altar. This will signify to Msgr. Halsema that you have not previously received Communion and will be accepting a blessing instead. You may also stay in your pew and reflect, pray or sing along to the music. We kindly request that if you are not Catholic, please do not accept the Eucharist.
