We were friends on social media from highschool. At 3am, he posted a 500lb bench video. Naturally, I commented on it with the "heart-eye* emoji. With him being a strong, bald guy with a red beard, I was sold. We talked off and on when he asked me over to his moms house. I had been living on my own already as a single mom, so the last thing I wanted was to go hang out at someone's moms house. I then asked him to meet me out for a drink, but he said he wouldn't have a ride. I'm sitting here thinking, "what a loser... lives in his mom's basement and doesn't have a car". He asked me over again, and stupidly, I went. Thankfully, he wasn't a crazy person. The day Jeremy met Owen a few weeks later, Owen screamed and cried for 3 hours straight. Jeremy, not having any kids of his own, stayed through the whole thing. Sitting on the floor, thinking we were nuts. That's how I knew he was a winner.
Coming off of our second powerlifting meet together, Jeremy was talking for weeks about how he was making a video for me highlighting how far we've come since we started lifting together. I came home from work one day, it was just him and I there. He had set up his phone (obviously hidden) to record the whole thing. We watched the lifting video of him first, then the one he made for me. At the end of the video, he displays photos of us, slowly gets down on one knee, and proposes. I was completely surprised. Later, when we went to watch the video, his back was facing it and it missed the whole thing :)
