Owosso is a charming community that is is home to the Curwood Castle. It served as the writing studio of James Oliver Curwood, one of America's foremost authors of adventure novels and an early advocate of environmental conservation. Many of his stories were turned into major motion pictures in Hollywood.
The Steam Railroading Institute is home to the famous 1225 steam engine featured in The Polar Express. The blueprints and sounds were used to bring the animated film to life. The Institute and it's library is free admission (donations welcome), so stop by if you want to know more.
Shop from over 40 vendors in Downtown Owosso on Exchange St! Vendors feature locally grown produce & flowers, artisan goods, food trucks and more! They are open from 9 am – 1 pm every Saturday, rain or shine until the final Saturday in October.
Nearby is also McCurdy Park, a kid-friendly park featuring disc golf, playgrounds and a historical village.
