Our Australia trip was the adventure of a lifetime. Three unforgettable weeks exploring the other side of the world with our friends Will and Amanda. Little did I know it would become the beginning of our forever. Halfway through our trip, we were making our way from the Gold Coast up to Brisbane. Along the way, we planned a hike that led us down to the top of a hidden waterfall tucked inside the O’Reilly Rainforest. Getting there was an adventure of its own — a narrow, winding, sketchy one-lane road that felt carved straight into the side of the mountain. Once we finally reached the top, we started our hike down toward the waterfall. And when we arrived… it was one of those views that looked too perfect to be real. Naturally, me being the “mems girl” that I am, I wanted pictures at the edge of the waterfall. As we started taking photos, Austyn suddenly said my full name — and I immediately got embarrassed, because he had joked about proposing at random times throughout our relationship. But this time… he didn’t stop. Before I could fully process what was happening, he dropped to one knee, pulled out a ring, and asked me to marry him. I had never been more shocked in my entire life and yet it was the easiest “yes” I’ve ever said. A once-in-a-lifetime trip turned into the start of our forever. And that place became even more special to us a month later, when we brought home our sweet puppy and named her Reilly, after the very rainforest where our forever began.
