Most of you know that Austin and I met in high school and have been together ever since. So I want to tell the story of our engagement. We had a weekend getaway coming up for our anniversary, and I honestly suspected nothing. We go away for the weekend every year for our anniversary, so it was just like every other year. Except it wasn't. Austin had the ring in his camera bag that he knew I wouldn't open. When we were looking for an Airbnb to stay in, we had stumbled across a park called "MacKay Park." When we saw it on the map, we knew we had to go. When we arrived at our Airbnb the first night of our weekend, Austin asked if I wanted to go to the park to take some fall pictures. I agreed, and we set off for MacKay Park. When we got to the park, we walked around for a few minutes to find a spot for pictures. The views from the park were beautiful. We found a small spot with a few trees and some leaves on the ground. I told him I wanted some pictures of the two of us for our anniversary, so he set up the tripod. I kept thinking he was going to hit the timer button, run over, and kneel down to propose. When he didn't for the 4th picture, I thought I was just crazy. Then, he walked over to the camera and pressed a button and looked at me, and I knew he had pressed "record." He said, "I have something for you." My mind immediately went to a ring, but he pulled out a large box from his bag. I stared at him confused as he handed it to me. I opened it, and saw a stuffed golden retriever puppy and I laughed. It was wearing a collar that said, "Will you marry me?" I, of course, said yes. I have wanted a golden retriever for my entire life. He knows this, and this was his way of promising to get me a golden retriever when we are ready.
