Everything you need to know about our special day can be found here on our website.
January 4th my mom, dad and I took Austin to the airport. He was "supposedly" flying out on Friday morning. Instead of doing that, his mom and grandparents flew in. My dad was supposedly taking me and my mom on a weekend getaway. We had a nice day shopping in Phoenix and then headed for our hotel room. My dad decided he was going to take us on an evening boat ride that I had told him about in Tempe for a picnic supper. He took us to the hotel and he "went shopping" for our picnic. In the meantime, Austin and his family were decorating the boat. My cousins, Lilliana and Hadassah were helping too because my mom had asked them to come take pictures of the proposal. We left the hotel and headed for the boat rental. Everyone but Austin was located above the lake on a bridge. We went to the rental boat where the man on staff was totally on board with what was happening and played his role so convincingly. He had only 1 boat available but "unfortunately" it was still decorated in State Farm Insurance colors because they had used it for a party and they had not had time to take it down. State Farm is located nearby and we saw the building so it was believable. The only thing was he “needed” us to take him to the other dock to get a package from his boss which was where we needed to go because that was where Austin was waiting to get on board and my mom and dad had to get off. So the dock manager hopped on board and we headed for the other dock. Once we arrived at the dock, they tied the boat off and then my dad blindfolded us both - my mom first so I would know she was blindfolded as well. He said he was taking us to a special spot on the lake. Austin hopped on and my mom and dad hopped off. I never suspected a thing. Austin pulled me to my feet but I thought it was my dad. He took the blindfold off of me and it took me a moment to grasp that it was Austin standing in front of me. He said some sweet things, got down on one knee and the rest is history! ❤️
We asked Rebekah Jones from Phoenix to design our wedding invitations and love what she created. She even incorporated a surprise element to our invitations - a copy of the exact boat that Austin proposed to me in, hidden in the leaves of the invite. See if you can find it!
