It was in May 2019 when my sarcasm and his wit had met their match. After this day, we were officially attached at the hip. We soon realized that we both were some of the very few people who actually liked cats, and who also had one as a pet. Austin's cat (Stevie) was the only name I could remember at first, but luckily, his owner's name finally stuck with me. My cat (Deana) gave Austin a run for his money upon their introduction. He immediately stole her heart! So at this point, the only thing standing in the way of her ruling the world was the lack of opposable thumbs. Austin and I's apparent co-dependency on each other meant our children (still talking about cats) were falling short of the undivided attention they were accustomed to which took us to the next chapter....adoption. Once we moved in together, we now had a lap cat that did NOT understand personal space, an ornery fluff ball whose attitude was the size of a lion, and a spazzy kitten that never got his adult body and spends the day sleeping. Fast forward 2 1/2 years; Deana now holds 100% authority and calls all the shots, and our parents are begging for human children because they can no longer bear the thought of another senseless Santa Clause photoshoot starring our furry felines that are treated better than most people's first born when frankly, they dont even deserve to live in our house. So now we have evolved to a VERY dysfunctional family of 5 (basically 6 considering Austin's attention span).......and they are my 4 absolute favorite complex organisms on this earth!
