Austin and I met while attending medical school at Morehouse School of Medicine, where we quickly became close as study partners during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. For three years, we spent countless days and nights studying side by side, building not only our careers but a strong friendship that eventually grew into something more. In February 2025, Austin planned what he described as a “late Valentine’s getaway” to Château Élan Winery in Braselton, Georgia. During our visit, he suggested we take a walk around the property and led me into a nearby room that had been beautifully staged. Completely unaware of what was about to happen, I assumed we had accidentally walked into someone else’s engagement celebration. As it turns out, the surprise was for me. Austin had thoughtfully arranged the entire moment, and just when I thought it was only the two of us, we discovered that our parents had been waiting nearby to celebrate the special occasion with us. It was a truly unforgettable moment and the perfect beginning to our next chapter together.
