How We Met

It was the spring of 2022. I was still a student at Texas A&M and it was the week of finals. I was invited to a crawfish boil in Austin, Texas. I was so indecisive on if I should go or not just because I knew I had a huge exam coming up that I needed to pass and I also needed to work desperately. I figured that I'd see how I felt the morning of the crawfish boil and make my decision then. Fast forward to the morning of the crawfish boil and here I was still wondering if I should make that drive to Austin, Texas. Then all of a sudden I got this gut instinct that told me to go. I heard a voice and I just know it was God telling me "You will miss out on something big if you do not go". So, I paused my studying, threw on some clothes, put my makeup on, and left! Once I arrived at the crawfish boil, there Austin was looking so handsome in his cowboy hat, cargo shorts, camo button-down shirt, flip flops, and a handgun with two magazines on his hip. I thought to myself "I need to know this guy". He introduced himself to me and we hit it off from the get-go. We laughed all afternoon until our tummies hurt and had tears rolling down our cheeks. I did not want to leave to go home. I had never experienced such pure happiness in my life. When I got ready to go home, Austin took me to the gas station to fill up my car because he wanted to make sure I had plenty gas to get home since it was after dark. We sat in my car for nearly two more hours after saying our initial goodbyes for the night. It felt so good to be in the presence of someone who could make me so happy. That is when we both knew that we were each others person; the person God sent to be with us for a lifetime. Needless to say, not much studying got done and I definitely did not make it to work haha!

The Proposal

We had been riding around the ranch for quite some time that morning. When we got home, I laid down for a nap, and Austin asked if I wanted to go watch the sunset that night. I initially said yes, but then decided that I didn't want to. Austin kept insisting that we go watch the sunset and have a picnic, so I said yes, but I need a nap first. I woke up late from my nap, the BBQ place was out of brisket, so Chicken Express it was. We didn't have enough time to make it to the exact location we wanted, so we stopped on the side of the road at a rest stop/lookout to catch the sunset. We put our food on the picnic table and I went to go take pictures. I was taking a video of the sunset and talking to Austin, not even realizing that he wasn't saying anything back haha! I turned around to see where we was at and there he was, kneeling on one knee expressing his love for me. The tears were starting to flow and of course I said YES!
