We met at the most unlikely of places - The Lonely Night Saloon in Crane, IN. At the last minute, Kandace was invited out by her best friend, Alyssa Fithian (matchmaker extraordinarie). Kandace did not intend to take the hour and a half drive to see her friend but the timing aligned so she took the trip. Austin was invited out by his best friend, Kendall Bratton. He was considering backing out when his mom said, "maybe you'll meet someone". And he shot back, "who will I meet at the Lonely Night Saloon?". Famous last words.

One unsuspecting Sunday morning, Kandace went to Walmart to pick up the groceries. She took her time, in no rush. As she walked in the door to the apartment, she heard the song, "Ease My Mind" loud over the speakers. This was a song very close to her and one that she had mentioned as a future first dance song. As she approached the living room, she saw Austin down on one knee, and he said the words, "Will you marry me?". Following the proposal, Austin surprised Kandace with all of her close friends and family to celebrate!
