I had just graduated from the University of Richmond and Austin was stationed in Quantico for TBS. My mom was less than encouraged by the men I had dated in college and decided to take things into her own hands. It started with a weekend trip to my family's beach house in Delaware. On the way to the beach with my sister-in-law, Natalie, we were discussing that my mom had made multiple suggestions to put me on dating sights to attract better quality men. Add in a bottle of wine, some photos that only your parents think are cute, and a genius "about me" description and I was on Match.com....without knowing it! Within moments of my mom pressing the "done" button on the profile of her masterpiece, I was getting notifications to my phone indicating that men were messaging me and "winking" at me through cyber space. One freak out and a loud "mmooooommmm" later and I got a wink from a handsome Marine, pictured in his dress blues. I yelled, "well he's cute", asked my mom and Natalie if I should wink back and with their approval, I winked. Within days I was off Match and we've been together ever since. So to my mom and the Marine Corps, thank you for being the best wing woman and man there is!
