Funny story, we actually went to the same elementary school but never knew one another. Austin moved to Plano before high school, but I always knew who he was because his Mom, Jamie Anderson, was involved in the dance world and I grew up knowing her through dance. While we were both attending UTPB, Austin direct messaged me on Instagram (yes we are one of those couples) and asked me to go on our first date. I said something along the lines of “I’ll think about it” but told my Mom “I don’t really think I want to go”. After a ton of urging from my family to “get out there” and “give someone a shot” and hearing “it’s only a date, it’s not like it has to get serious”, I finally decided I would go. On February 7th, 2019 Austin took me on our first date to Chili’s and we ended up talking for hours! He even was late to golf practice I found out later! Within a few days I knew this guy was going to be my boyfriend and within the next few months began to realize I wanted to spend every single moment of the rest of my life with him. Funny to think what I would have missed out on if I didn’t go on that first date! We are so excited to celebrate our love and hope you come to celebrate it with us!
The night before we got engaged, my parents casually asked Austin and I to go to dinner at the country club the following night. We of course said yes and I absolutely suspected nothing. Austin picked me up after work and on the way to the club, I got a text from my Dad that said “We’re running a little late”. So I told Austin and he decided it would be a great idea to go “check out the changes they have made to the course” while we waited on them. He walked me out to the Country Club pond and still, I suspected nothing. We talked for a minute and suddenly I turn to see him getting down on one knee!!! We still laugh about the fact that the only words he could get out were “you’re my best friend” before I started bawling and freaking out! My first thought was, “Oh! I guess he decided he wanted a more private engagement!”....hilarious I even thought that! I turned around to see our entire families running out from the building and pulling up in golf carts! We walked into the building to find a full blown engagement party! Austin and our families made that day one of the most special days of my life and I will never forget the feeling of saying “yes” to him and the rest of our lives together! Fun Fact: I found out later that the diamond for my ring was overnighted and didn’t arrive until a few hours before the proposal! Poor Austin was stressed all day, but it turned out so magical!
