Our Story

Austin and Ally met through the app Bumble! On their first date, they had tacos at Garcia's, a restaurant Austin grew up going to with his cousins. The date was going so well that they went next door to the Chicago Brauhaus for a drink. Ally doesn't drink beer but pretended to like it so their date could continue. As Austin and Ally were saying goodbye outside, the owner of the Brauhaus came out and said: "We do weddings here. You will have your reception here". And 4 and a half years later, Austin and Ally are getting married! Just not at the Brauhaus since it closed. Over these years, Austin and Ally have had many adventures together and can't wait for more!

The Proposal

November 8th, 2020

On a sunny brisk morning on November 8th, 2020, Austin went for a run to scope out the proposal site at Lincoln Square. When he arrived, there was a group of runners and boxes on the platform where Austin was going to propose in half an hour. Austin asked the runners if they could help him out and they agreed to clear the area. They agreed and Austin sprinted back to the apartment. He told Ally that he ordered a special breakfast at Cafe Sel Marie and that they needed to pick it up. As they were getting ready, Ally noticed Austin was taking his time. She asked him, “Should I put on some makeup?” He replied, “Maybe a little bit.” As they were arriving at the Square, Austin nodded at the photographer who was incognito. It was go time! Suddenly, a loud siren exploded down the street. Several emergency vehicles raced past the Square. The crowd of runners had their heads turned towards the sound of a 5 alarm fire. Ally tugged on Austin’s arm pulling him towards the commotion to see what was going on. At this point, it was all or nothing. Austin planted his feet and redirected Ally onto the platform. He looked into her eyes and got on one knee. In shock, Ally nodded several times and then finally said, “Yes!” The crowd redirected their focus and cheered on the newly engaged couple. Both their family members came out of the crowd to congratulate them.
