We are closely watching Maine's state mandates and regulations. As of right now, all that is required is for non-vaccinated guests to wear masks while at the wedding. If you are fully vaccinated, you do not need to wear a mask. This is also a requirement by Bear Mountain Inn, so please please please make this as painless as possible. We do not want to have to ask someone to leave or to make sure they are wearing a mask when we all should be celebrating and enjoying being together with everyone! If you have any questions, feel free to visit https://www.maine.gov/covid19/
Just a reminder, accommodations are not available at Bear Mountain Inn. These rooms have already been spoken for by our bridal party and immediate family. The Hampton Inn is a great option as we will provide transportation to and from our venue. Ubers and Lyfts will be limited the day of. If you are driving yourselves, parking is very limited, so please take that into account. Feel free to party! But please be responsible, we love you all too much! Shuttles from the Hampton Inn in Oxford will leave at 3:15pm, and there will be no more after that. See if you can get an early check in at the Hampton Inn if you need to get ready for the ceremony.
I was working as the Youth Director at the JCC in West Hartford and Austin had just started at the front desk working in membership services. We had had a few interactions, but we both hadn't thought much of it. Although, Austin would claim when we first met he was automatically invested. I had walked by one day when Ilene (this amazing 70 year old women) raised her eyebrows at Austin saying, "What do you think about Meg?!?" Austin said he would be interested but thought I definitely had a boyfriend. So, leave it to Ilene to venture up to see me in my office and ask flat out if I had a boyfriend. I didn't, so she said "Well Austin thinks you're cute! Can I have your number?" We went on a little group date with some of our other work friends and the rest is history! I really wasn't kidding when I said our matchmaker was 70 years old. She was and always will be our biggest supporter.
We had been planning this weekend for months. We were staying at The Ocean House in Westerly, RI Saturday night, which had been a combination gift for me for my birthday, Valentine's day, and our anniversary. This is a place I have always DREAMED of staying, even just for a night. It's a beautiful hotel right on the beach, which is magical no matter what season. We enlisted the help of Abbey to come take care of our newly rescued pooch, Jackson. Abbey and I had signed up for a cycle class that Saturday morning before Austin and I headed down. Abbey was acting strange, insisting we bring an umbrella to class, constantly sipping her water in the car, and trying to force me to "freshen up" after class. Which I thought was weird since we were going directly home. Austin's plan had been to propose at dinner at the Ocean House, but he knew there was no way he could fool me all day when I ALWAYS know when he's nervous and anxious. Last minute, he changed his plan, with the help of Abbey, to propose when we got out of class. We walked out to the parking lot and I saw him, dressed up all nice, with flowers, and I thought he was just kicking off the weekend in such a sweet way. Little did I know....he had bigger plans. Hence all the insanely shocked photos many of you have seen....
