Austin was visiting his friend, Chelsea in Boston for the weekend and they went to Pour House on Boylston Street. Lexi and her friends, who happened to be classmates of Chelsea, planned to meet them there. Lexi and Austin were instantly drawn to each other and Austin spent the next two years traveling from Maine to Boston on the weekends to visit Lexi until ultimately moving to Boston in 2015.

Lexi and Austin always knew they wanted to be together forever, it was something they talked about often during their 5 years of dating. For Lexi's birthday in December, Austin planned a nice evening for the two of them. The evening started with a walk through the Boston Commons and Public Garden to look at the Christmas lights (Lexi's favorite holiday activity). After a nice walk Austin found a secluded bench in the park and asked Lexi to sit with him. After some slight resistance, she agreed to join him on the cold bench. She soon didn't notice the cold when Austin got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife! Through tears, Lexi said yes!
