Travel Note

Sayulita, Mexico

Sayulita is a peaceful, sunny, hippy Mexican beach village, only twenty-six miles from the Puerto Vallarta airport, located in the adjacent Mexican state of Nayarit, providing an experience distinct from that of a resort city. It has beautiful beaches, gorgeous sunsets, lush jungles, and a taste of small town Mexico in an incredibly safe environment. The town is only 3 miles end to end so everything you need is within walking distance. An abundance of margs and street tacos can be found on the main beach and Sayulita and in downtown Sayulita. If you prefer a more all inclusive experience, Puerto Vallarta is only about a 35 minute taxi ride from Sayulita.

Flight

PUERTO VALLARTA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (PVR)

Puerto Villa Airport is the closest Airport to Sayulita. When arriving in the lobby of the airport you will find car rental booths, shops, cafes, ATMs for cash, and money exchange booths. You can exchange money there. It is about 45 mins each way. We also recommend getting Pesos out prior to leaving the airport, or stopping at a bank along the way. Sayulita does not have a ton of ATMs. If you exit the PVR airport and and turn left and walk a ways down the sidewalk, you will see a walking bridge over the highway. These cabs tend to be cheaper and you can give them US cash (~$30). You can also arrange a car service, which will usually include a stop at a grocery store as well.

We recommend booking a home on airbnb or VRBO. Our venue (and where we are staying) is on the North end of town. It is the last house on Av. del Palmar. There are multiple different housing options including apartments, villas, and condos. Rental Car

Gecko Rent a Car | Bucerias

If you are interested in going out of town to explore or decide to stay at a resort in Puerto Vallarta, taxis can be used for day trips or you can rent a car before leaving the airport. If you are interested in renting a car, Geko Car rental in Bucerias is the way to go. They will pick you up at the airport and take you to their rental office 20 minutes from the airport.

Travel Note

Golf Cart Rental

We recommend renting a golf cart while down there. Cars are not the best means of transportation in this area.
