How We Met

It was love at first Boat

As many of you know our love story is a little different than most. I was two months away from moving back to Miami when my world was turned upside down (or was it right side up)! Our mutual friend Caroline who will be at the wedding and you can thank her, asked if I wanted to go on her guy friend's boat. I NEVER say no to a boat, so I gladly made time that evening on July 10th 2024 to head out on lake Lewisville with a bottle of rose and a music playlist. Austin was the definition of a complete gentleman. He was introduced to Bad Bunny that evening as I asked to connect my phone to the boat. This is when he said he knew I was not the typical Dallas girl. That evening he offered to drop my off at my apartment so I didn't have to uber and we played a 2000's CD in his car and sang along the whole drive there. I did not think much of it as my mind was on Miami. I had moved to Texas to find a man and God had not delivered (YET)! One week later Austin and I ended up in a group chat to go out to a popular bar in Dallas. The night did not end at this bar as we were invited to a friends house to dance and have fun. This is where Austin really turned on the charm teaching me how to do a magic trick (picked up from his father). I had never in my life had a man try to flirt with me through magic but that is when I realized that he was trying to get my attention and it worked! One week later we went on our first date where he cooked for me on his roof top. We spent the last three weeks of me in town on his boat, grilling out, or with cocoa. When the day came for me to leave Austin volunteered to take me to the airport and on that drive, I could tell the normally calm and levelheaded man I knew was feeling all sorts of emotions. He wasn't the only one I was a mess. When we went to say goodbye, he came back for a second kiss and that's when I knew this was not the end to our story. Austin called me that night to tell me all about his boat day and he even asked if I would come back to Dallas a week later. I was so relieved he was thinking of me because I thought I was the only one. We planned a trip back to Dallas and that's where he asked if I would be his girlfriend. I made sure he understood that cocoa and I were a packaged deal and he said he was ready to be a dog dad. I said yes! I also thought we were absolutely crazy as I just left my job and life to go back to Miami. Some say that distance breaks relationships, but it strengthened ours. We both worked hard on ourselves to make sure that we were becoming better people for each other. What started as going to see each other once a month grew to twice a month and then any free time we had we wanted to travel the world and be together. On New Year's Eve we said our first I love you and started to plan out our future. We knew that this was something serious and we weren't willing to give it up which meant one of us was going to have to move. I made the tough decision of leaving my job, my friends, and the city that brought some of the best years of my life to become a Texan. Austin allowed me to transform his apartment into our home and never complained once even when he hung photos in Cocoa's corner. Every night I cook dinner for us as we catch up on our day and Austin helps clean up because he knows how tired I am from work and cooking. He wakes up every day and helps take Cocoa out so I can enjoy a few more minutes on the couch with my coffee. I make protein balls homemade granola bars so he can stay on his rigorous health kick lol while he pushes me to get to the gym with him. Every night we crawl in bed as a family of three and watch documentaries or crime shows so we can spend some quiet time together. We are best friends. On December 28th, 2025, Austin proposed in front of my whole family, which he knew was so important to me. And come January we had wedding planners to help us create a weekend that would bring a community of friends and family together to bless our marriage.
