Getting from LAX to Your Hotel/Airbnb

Hi beloved guest, thank you for coming to the wedding. Getting from the Airport to the Hotel can be annoying, but we typed up this guide to help you through it. Unfortunately, LA is behind the times and has not finished building a metro line to the airport—the mayor won’t fix this no matter how many letters I write to him! Here are your three options for getting from LAX to your destination: - Rental Car - Uber/Lyft/Taxi - Airport Shuttle to Union Station (LAX Flyaway)

3 Best Options

1. RENTAL CAR: You can reserve these online and find them at the airport, pretty self explanatory. If you arrive during rush hour (8-11am, 4-8pm) it could take you 1 to 1.5 hours to get downtown. Be careful driving, people in LA *hate* using their turn signals! 2. UBER/LYFT/TAXI: The quickest way to get where you’re going. Prices can fluctuate anywhere from $40 to $100—if it’s not during rush hour (8-11am, 4-8pm) then it shouldn’t be too expensive. You’ll have to go to the Uber/Lyft pickup spot and then call your Uber/Lyft there. If you didn’t fly southwest, You’ll have to find a Green Uber/Lyft/Taxi shuttle to take you to the pick up area. If you flew southwest, you can just walk there (takes like 2 minutes). 3. LAX FLYAWAY BUS: If you arrive between 5am-11:30pm, you can take the Flyaway bus to Union Station. It takes longer than the other options but is the cheapest: $10! After you deplane and get your bags, go to Lower/Arrivals Level. Look for a large blue FlyAway column and stand by it. The buses come like every thirty minutes or so—but when the bus arrives, make sure it says UNION STATION and NOT Van Nuys! That is not where you want to go! You can check with the driver as well. The ticket costs $10, once you arrive at Union Station, you’ll go pay for it at a kiosk and then come back and they give you your luggage once you’ve paid. From Union Station, you can get to your destination by taking an Uber/Lyft OR the LA metro. Uber/Lyft: you’ll have to cross to the other side of Union Station and walk through a parking garage to get to the pick up spot. LA Metro: If you're staying at the hotel, buy a single ride ticket for $2 and take the Red/Purple line to the 7th Street/Metro Center station, and it’s a four minute walk to the hotel. (The Purple Line/Red Line run on the same track. Not sure why…but it's confusing!) If you aren't staying at the hotel, use google maps to see if there's a train that takes you there.
