It all started back in February of 2020, when Camille and Austin started an internship at Palomar Hospital. Both Camille and Austin happened to be leaving the hospital 20 minutes late one night, after a shift they typically didn't work. Camille noticed Austin's red hair walking 20 feet in front of her and remembered him from their orientation. Being her friendly self, she decided to call him out, "hey you!" Austin turned, but being oblivious, thought she was talking to someone else, and continued walking. "Hey you!" Austin turned again, "Yes you!" And it registered that maybe this cute girl was talking to him. He waited for her, walked her to her car and ultimately was smooth enough to get Camille's phone number. He texted her later to see if she wanted to study. Austin was beginning nursing school and Camille was finishing up her degree from UCSD and prepping for PA school. Austin thought a study date would be the perfect excuse to see her again. They met at Starbucks one day for a study session. They ended up talking for hours and getting dinner together. Even though it was only their first date, Austin knew there was something special about Camille. He told her what he was looking for, and didn't want there to be confusion or wasted time. Camille knew there was something special about him as well. Camille and Austin started officially dating in April of 2020. Even though it was the height of COVID and the world shut down, they got to know each other better through long Facetime calls every night. When the world opened up again, they started to spend more time together, and eventually fell in love. Over the next couple years they pushed and encouraged each other to accomplish major life goals, including Camille's UCSD graduation, Austin's nursing graduation, Camille getting accepted to PA school, Austin getting a dream job in the Emergency Department, and more. They supported and prayed with each other, and grew deeper in their faith. Every day they grew closer to each other and loved each other more until Austin had an idea.... On January 14th, 2023, Austin got on one knee and asked Camille if she would spend the rest of her life with him. Without hesitation, it was a resounding yes! They both knew they were each others' person, and the perfect compliment to one another. After engagement, Camille moved to Colorado to begin graduate school studying to be a Physician Assistant. While enduring the long distance, Austin worked the night shift as an emergency department nurse. Long phone calls, sleepless nights to board a plane for even just a few days together... all to create a future with each other, and it's been more than worth it. While not being together for long stretches was difficult, the moments of seeing each other after being apart were amazing. Life is about moments, and they have had many beautiful ones with each other. But the biggest moment has yet to come...
