Austa met Brian in her early twenties by happenstance at the Triple Rock. That night a young man was playing bass on the stage in a giant hat and big, white sunglasses. She felt brave and wanted a story to tell her friends, so she offered to buy him a drink. His name was Brian. He was charming, sweet, funny, and bought the next round. They went on a date while he was in town during his tour and decided to exchange numbers to keep in touch. When he'd come through on tour, they'd explore parts of the city together and he'd regail her with his punk rock tour stories. She always felt sad when he left. He spent the better part of a decade talking to her and waiting for her. Then, when the moment was right, he asked her to take a leap of faith and come down to him in Virginia. There, she fell madly in love with him and even helped plan a proposal in his favorite universe, just to see him smile.
