Things To Do

Trebinje is known as the "Town of sun, wine, and Platan trees." In Trebinje, you can find the true spirit of the slow life in the Balkans. When visiting, remember to soak in the town's laid-back atmosphere and enjoy the genuine hospitality of the locals.

Step back in time in the old town

Wander through the charming streets of Trebinje's old town, where you'll find cobblestone lanes, traditional architecture, historic buildings, and many cafés

Enjoy local cuisine

Traditional dishes: ćevapi (grilled mince patties) commonly served with ajvar (roasted red pepper sauce), burek, and other types of pita (stuffed savory pies), mixed BBQ, sarma (meat and rice stuffed inside pickled cabbage leaves), baklava, the cheapest ice cream in surroundings ($1 for sundae)

Wine, wine, wine

Trebinje and the surrounding areas are dotted with wineries that produce a wide range of high-quality wines. Some notable wineries in the region include: - Vukoje Winery - Monastery Tvrdos Winery - Andjelic Winery

Take in the view from Herzegovacka Gracanica

There is no better way to get your first glimpse of Trebinje than from above. It is walkable but quite steep, so we recommend driving up.

Outdoor activities

If you're into outdoor activities, consider hiking or cycling in the nearby hills and mountains There are also amazing white-water rafting locations just a short drive away

Things to do outside of Trebinje:

- Dubrovnik, Croatia (30min) - Montenegro coastline, Montenegro (>45min) - Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Old Bridge) (>1hr)

Note

Most signs, including street signs, use the Cyrillic alphabet. It would be best if you had a clear idea of where you are going on a map because the street names won't be able to help you - unless you can read Cyrillic :). Please consider having a data plan to access maps on the go or download a map before leaving for the day. Additionally, it is typical for vendors in Trebinje and the surrounding areas only to accept cash (Bosnian Marka).

For all the days along the way
