Aurora & Matt met at Youth Group at St. John's United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Texas, ELEVEN years ago. Aurora's brother, Kahler, and his best friend, Sam, went every week and she decided to join them! Part of Youth Group's fundraising was to put on a show each year. This particular year it was decided to perform "Summer Lovin' on Mission Trip" - a fun, church appropriate spin-off of "Grease". Matt was cast as Danny; Aurora was cast as Sandy. And so began their friendship.

Matt had it all planned out. He invited Julie (Aurora's Mother) and Joaquin (Aurora's Stepdad) to spend Christmas break with him and Aurora during their hunting trip. Matt bought the ring. Now it was a waiting game for the perfect moment. Aurora was excited for another deer hunting season and went about as usual: wake up - coffee (lots of coffee) - deer stand. Matt's plan was that she would harvest a buck and he would pop the question. But the deer had other plans and were more elusive than previous years, and she picked the perfect time to be an overly selective hunter. Long story short: she didn't shoot and the trip was almost over. After another unsuccessful morning, Aurora was working on a puzzle with Julie when Matt called that Houston (their dog) had something on his neck she needed to look at. When she went over, the most perfect ring was tied to Houston's collar. Matt got down on one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?"
