Keeping Flexible

We thank you for your patience, flexibility and understanding as we continue to plan events that are not only festive, but also safe for all those attending. It is possible some events will change right up until the few days prior. We want nothing more than to spend time with those close to us, and grateful we are in these challenging times together.

Our Proposal

Chanticleer Gardens, October 2018

Chanticleer Gardens is one of those magical places you never forget. Like a camera flash, the afterimage etches into your memory forever. The gardens have romantic woods, babbling streams, and ruins from an gone by era. That's where we got engaged. In late 2018, it was moving-season in Philly. Ellen, Aura's sister, was moving into her first college dorm nearby. Alice and Aura were moving out of an apartment they shared for two years. We decided now would be a good time to move in together. The story gets a bit complicated here, but the short version is Robert's apartment was too small for two strong-willed people (and an opinionated cat), and so we moved again. Within three weeks, Aura (and Simon the cat) lived in 3 different places. The first day after moving to the new place, Aura woke exhausted, bruised, and overwhelmed looking at all our stuff that resembled a foreign bazaar. Robert knew exactly how to remedy this. A boozy brunch with a garden was in order. Sitting on a quaint bridge in the sun, Aura looked at Robert and stated she's going to marry him. It was a shock to us both. We cried some, hugged some, and laughed a lot. We decided to return to this magical garden with our closest friends to make a ceremony of our proposal. In the flower garden, with the children making crafts, a beautiful spread of food, cake, and bubbly. We welcomed the blessings, readings, and prayers from our tribe. As a team, we proposed to each other.
