March 22, 2025

Folsom, LA

Our story

While August and Rachael attended elementary school together, they didn’t officially “meet” until September 2015 when their matron of honor, Grace Cole Longo, set them up as blind homecoming dates. Sparks instantly flew. To make their story even more poetic, their best man and August’s little brother, Blake Latapie, actually accidentally asked Rachael to be August’s girlfriend for him. As a cheerleader and member of the high school marching band, Rachael and August fell in love under the Friday night lights. After dating for a couple years in high school, August and Rachael spent some time apart in the first year of college/boot camp. It wasn’t very long before they reconnected at LSU. After a few fun years attending LSU together, August was deployed for 10 months to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in August of 2020. While this was a challenging time for both, August and Rachael’s love for each other only grew stronger. Upon his return from deployment, August moved to Galveston, Texas to officially pursue a degree in maritime transportation. While long distance right after a deployment was not easy, August and Rachael remained best friends and each other’s confidant. In April 2023, August took Rachael on the trip of a lifetime to Iceland. He got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife in front of Glugafoss waterfall. She said yes! Finally in September 2023, Rachael was able to move to Galveston to end their long distance. Together finally again with their dog, Winston, the couple now resides in Madisonville, LA and are looking forward to their big day soon to come on March 22, 2025 and can’t wait to celebrate with all their loved ones.
