How we met

We meet about two years before our first date. Our two friends (shout out to Henry and Katie) invited us both to a Saturday brunch. Prior to brunch Augusta and Katie attend a library sale, and James was intrigued by the women who was carrying a bag overflowing with books. We sat next to each other at brunch, although we didn't talk much. Henry told Augusta she should join them all for pub trivia on the following Tuesday and she went hoping to see James again.... he did not show up. The next two years was full of random interactions at parties and brunches, until we were finally able to make a connection while watching the movie Mean Girls. Early on Augusta told James that she knew the best diner for breakfast in the district, and that sealed the deal.

The Engagement

In January 2021 we booked cottages on Peaks Island and invited both of our families to join us on the island for a week. Augusta thought it was just going to be a week for our families to get to know each other, but James had a much bigger plan up his sleeve. We arrived in Maine a few days before we were set to head to Peaks, on our first full day in Maine it was misty and gray, we went to two of our favorite bookstores and then the new Mast Landing location in Freeport for beers. After the brewery, we set out to return to Portland jamming out to MmmBop in the car, stoping at Goodwill, and Dunkin Donuts. James told Augusta he wanted to stop by the ocean and sit on a bench for a little, he wanted to feel "zen". Augusta really had to go to the bathroom and it was raining so she agreed to the stop as long as it was brief. They pulled up to the Eastern Promenade and found a bench. Before Augusta put it together James started talking about how he wanted to spend life togther, next thing she knew he was getting down on one knee.... she yelled yes pretty much before the knee hit the ground. Afterward we spent a week celebrating with our family on Peaks Island. We both love Peaks Island so much and when we found out the TEIA Club was available for a 2022 wedding we thought there was no better place to bring all of our family and friends to celebrate.
