Pink rock beach! As the waves roll in, they pick up the pink rhyolite stones, rearrange them and gently set them down in a sound sort of like a million marbles settling together.

In addition to the lighthouse itself, the state park features a visitor center with a museum store, hiking trails, and historic buildings.

Palisade Head is large rock formation located just north of Silver Bay, MN. More notable for visitors, Palisade Head is an absolutely beautiful scenic overlook. Visitors who make the short, steep drive off Highway 61 rave about its stunning cliff-side views of the Lake Superior shoreline. You can find it at mile marker 57 on the scenic highway 61.

Hike the high cliffs along Lake Superior's shoreline, walk along the Baptism River, or take in the three scenic waterfalls or the loops that wind around interior lakes. One of our favorite short hikes is from the Visitor Center to Shovel Point!

Hike riverside trails along the impressive Temperance River Gorge. Watch your step! Skip a few rocks at the Temperance River beach. Eat your lunch at the picnic grounds here while you enjoy the lake view. Stroll down to the foot bridge below Highway 61 and enjoy great views of the Temperance River lagoon.

The winery offers red, white and rosé wines plus hard ciders. There is a plehtora of indoor and outdoor seating and they often have live music year-round. Check the Bluefin Bay activity calendar as they sometimes offer shuttles for guests at designated times throughout the week.

Explore Artist's Point and walk around the shops around the harbor. Find a good book to read at Drury Lane Books or grab a beer at Voyageur Brewing. Alex and I always get fudge from Beth's fudge and gifts shop each time we visit!
