This is one of the best zoos in the country! There is a full indoor desert, rainforest, and aquarium. Oh, and let's not forget about the Skyfari, a ski lift that glides you over the animals! Check out Megan's favorite part- the Giraffe Encounter, or Nick's favorite- the African Grasslands.
This historic neighborhood features cobblestone roads, horse-drawn carriages, and lots of shopping and places to eat. Our favorite restaurants: Trini's (mexican restaurant) in the Old Market Passageway, Spaghetti Works. Favorite stores: Made in Omaha, City Limits.
This public park has recently been totally transformed. With new playgrounds, hammocks, firepits, and ribbon roller rink, its a great place to stroll or run off some energy before the ceremony. Oh, and don't forget to zip down the original slides, even if you're an adult (pro tip- bring wax paper and sit on it while you slide for extra speed!) This was a highlight of going downtown as a kid.
An interactive science museum that features over 100 hands-on exhibits to engage visitors of all ages in subjects like light, motion, biology, and engineering.
The Holy Family Shrine is a breathtaking sanctuary nestled in the rolling hills just outside the city. Surrounded by wide-open skies and natural prairie beauty, it is a serene and contemplative space that invites quiet reflection and renewal and encourages visitors to admire the beauty of God's creation in a sacred atmosphere. Open Mon-Sat 10 am-5 pm, Sunday 12-5pm. Mass on Saturdays at 10 am.
We love a good date night stroll through the aisles of Hy-Vee and we are so proud to have the world's largest Hy-Vee in our Gretna neighborhood! If you have the time it is worth the trip.
