How We Met

Fresh out of college and straight into the chaos of 2020, we were assigned to the same project at McKinsey. Audrey was in Chicago, Lucas in SF, both of us pretending to be real adults on Zoom. Their first few "meetings" were less than cinematic. Audrey's camera was broken, so for weeks Lucas's only reference point for his new teammate was a purple blur on the other side of his screen. He knew she was trouble (the good kind) pretty early on. One day Audrey called in sick to work. She insisted she was "really sick", but Lucas later found out that she was not too sick to go out for tacos. Lucas should have recognized this as a warning sign. He did not.

The Slow Burn

For ten months, we were "just friends." Audrey came to Miami with a mutual friend, the first time we ever met in person, and the first confirmation that she was, in fact, not purple. Then Lucas visited Chicago. Then Audrey came to SF. Then Chicago again. Then SF again. Then Cape Cod. An absurd number of cross-country flights for two people who were Definitely Not Dating. The turning point, which Lucas still insists was Not A Date, was a sushi omakase dinner in SF the month before we officially got together. There was sake. There was a lot of sake. By the end of the night, a small amount of dinner may or may not have been returned. Four and a half years later, the jury is still out.

The Proposal

Two days before Thanksgiving, we were back where it all started: Miami. Lucas had shipped the ring ahead to his parents in Boston to dodge a TSA surprise. A flawless plan, except for the 48 hours the ring spent lost somewhere in a midwest storm. (He aged about ten years.) The cover story was airtight: bad day at work, difficult boss, desperate need for a drink at our favorite bar. So we set off down the beach path we'd walked a hundred times before. It was golden hour and one of the side paths was lined with rose petals and candles, leading to a picnic on the sand, where Lucas asked THE question. Audrey said yes. Then we did what we always do. Walked to our favorite bar, and finished the night at Audrey's favorite sushi place.

Why Costa Brava, Spain

Spain is where we took our first international vacation together as a couple. While in Barcelona, a local friend suggested a day trip up the coast to Costa Brava. The next day, Audrey rented a manual car and let Lucas drive stick for the first time, a decision she would come to regret deeply later on. Somehow, we made it to Costa Brava in one piece and were completely blown away by the views and vibe. That day became one of our favorites, ever, and we loved it so much we went back two days later before the trip was over. When it came time to choose where to get married, it felt natural to celebrate in a part of the world that means so much to us. We sincerely hope you'll join us in Spain, because even the most magical venue in the world would feel incomplete without our favorite people there to share it
