Our story is built on the passions we both share—a love that has grown out of chasing the same dreams and supporting each other’s ambitions. For us, that passion started with hunting. It’s how we initially sparked conversation, and ultimately, it’s how Chris decided to propose. A year or so before, Chris told me he might propose after I killed my first bull elk with a bow. I remember thinking, “Sure.” At the time, I didn’t take him too seriously. It seemed like a playful challenge or idea. But Chris? He wasn’t playing. He thought I’d let it slip from my mind, but I didn’t. I could tell something was off. He was acting differently, but he never said a word. Finally, the day came. The elk. The first bull I’d ever taken with my bow. Honestly, I’d completely forgotten about Chris’s proposal idea. I was focused on the moment—the bull getting close, trying to stay calm even though I was shaking badly, and making the shot count. The rush of accomplishment was overwhelming. But then, as we walked up to the animal, I noticed Chris was acting... weird. He was holding his phone up, recording a video. As I approached the bull, everything felt surreal. For some reason, I couldn’t get him to come up to the elk with me. He stayed back a bit, knelt, and asked me the question. I was in shock, and it made the worst video of a proposal ever. I just stood there staring at him, and then finally I said, “YEAH.” Not what he was expecting, but it worked. Despite the excitement of becoming engaged and finally having an elk on the ground after countless long days, we still had work ahead of us to get the elk dressed and to the truck before dark. This eventful day is one we will never forget as we begin the next chapters of our lives together.
