Please click the Travel tab on our website for details on how to get to Isla Mujeres from the Cancun airport. Once on the island, you can either take a taxi to the hotel (80 pesos/@ $5) or walk (about 1/2 mile). The taxi stand is immediately outside of the ferry terminal.
1) Do not book a flight that lands to the Cancun Airport after 8:15 PM (the last ferry to the island is at 11:00 PM) 2) Do not book a flight that departs the Cancun airport before 10:00 AM. (The first ferry from the island in the morning is 6:00 AM, with a 6:20 AM pick up, you will arrive at the airport by approximately 7:30 AM.)
Yes. You are welcome to stay anywhere you want but... Ixchel does not allow non-guests on the property (they have wrist bands) so if spending time together at the resort pool or beach is a priority then staying at Ixchel would be best. Additionally, we chose Ixchel because it sits on the biggest, best beach in Isla Mujeres, as well as its proximity to restaurants, things to do, and the ferry. Ixchel is NOT an all inclusive resort giving many possibilities of food and activities at your own budget and pace.
