We met online via the Bumble dating app. We enjoyed a dinner date and were “those annoying people”, being the last in the building. We walked out together to our cars and got lost in conversation before we knew it; it was five in the morning. We exchanged phone numbers and went home. The next day, since Paul was “playing it cool”lol, I shot him a text. We shared texts back and forth and Paul inquired about hanging out one more time before that week before I headed out to visit my friend Kassity for the holiday weekend in North Carolina. Being the queen of procrastination and last-minute packing, I had yet to even get my laundry done for my trip; I had told Paul it was very unlikely we would have a chance to hang out before the trip. However, Paul was convincing that “a girl has to eat.” I had gotten off work early and had agreed to have a quick bite to eat, and we grabbed Chipotle. Once again, we got lost in time. I had to rush home, pack pretty much whatever I could get my hands on, throw it in a suitcase, and speed in the pouring rain all the way to Denver to catch my flight. If you know anything about my history of catching flights… I am the queen of missing them! My flight was supposed to be leaving when I had barely got through TSA. Desperately trying to make my flight, I took a few pumps of my inhaler and jetted through the airport. To my surprise, due to weather circumstances, my flight was delayed by an hour! Lucky for Paul because I probably never would’ve talked to him again lol. I received a text message from him asking if I made it to the airport OK and made my flight and I explained that it was delayed due to weather. He asked to hang out once saying to reach out when I got back into town and have a good time. We texted a few times on my trip and Kassity FaceTimed him and began that whole what are your intentions with my best friend tipsy talk (interrogation). That obviously didn’t scare him off. When I returned from my trip Paul and I had hung out that same night. We seen each other every single day after that even if it was just for an hour. Paul had invited me over to his house for us to drive together to go catch a bite it eat, and his mother had been dropping something off and I pulled up when she was walking to her car. Paul was inside and had apparently been taking a shower so I just sat in my car until he was done. When he came outside and opens the door, he says oh did you meet my ex-wife? Being the smart ass that he is…. I did not find that funny! Appalled, I was ready to leave. But then he laughed and showed me the text message from his mom saying “hey that girl’s here you better tell her that I’m your mom lol”. About two weeks of us hanging out together we were heading out for a hike in the neighborhood on the trail where we live and he gets a call from his dad and says hey I have to come drop Jack off to you right now. We’re right down the street. Something came up, Paul gets off the phone and states that there’s a change in plans. We gotta head back. His dad has to drop his son off whom I have never met, and we head back that way by the time we get to the house Dana, Richard and Jack were sitting on the steps. So I basically met his whole family very quickly. I definitely was not prepared for that, I was going to leave and let them have their time, but Paul was not going to let that happen, Paul got Jack’s bike and said come on let’s go and the three of us took off. A few weeks after that, we were going together to watch Jack graduate from kindergarten. As Claudia likes to joke, she thought her son was dead, or something because she hadn’t heard from him in days. When she asked him if he was still dating “that chick from the house” he told her yes and would be hanging out later today. Our relationship sparked quickly and as they say, “the rest is history”. Now are just at the beginning our “happily ever after” with our own little family Vivieanna, Jack, and Benji the kitty.
