We met through our Church's youth group. Mikey had a crush on Audrey, but Audrey sadly wasn't feeling the same connection. Years later on the Summer of 2016, we reconnected and became best friends. These were confusing and heart wrenching times, but on October 12th of 2016, we realized our mutual feelings and become a couple. From there, it was evident that this was more than any high school crush, and we knew we would be together forever. We would be the high school sweethearts that got married and had a happy ever after.
We knew we wanted to get married young; the question was when to propose and make it official. Mikey made a plan to do it in October, but he realized with school, it would be better to wait till Audrey graduated. She graduated mid-December, and by Christmas Eve, he was ready to propose. The Waterbury's family tradition is to open up presents on Chrismas Eve so we did. Mikey saved his present for last. Audrey opened the box with rose petals to find a ring box inside. She opened the box and found... a note! Mikey wrote notes and had a scavenger hunt to find the final hint. Finally, the last clue led to Audrey's backyard, where there were candles in the pool and lights lit in the gazebo, where he proposed.
