We actually met through mutual friends during the summer of 2017 in Chicago. Anthony was stationed in Illinois and Audrey was living in Northern Virginia at the time. She went out to Chicago for the week with some friends, who had mutual friends with Anthony. Audrey remembers Anthony was super loud and outgoing and remembers he was from where she was currently living. They added each other on Facebook and sort of kept in touch. Fast forward a year and they were constantly chatting and sending each other memes on Instagram. Anthony came home in October of 2018 and invited Audrey to karaoke. For some reason, Audrey went. She knew no one except for Anthony (his whole family was there) and she had never done karaoke before. He brought her homemade chocolate cookies filled with Nutella. After that night, they began talking on the phone and realized they both had feelings for one another. Anthony booked another flight home for Christmas to come visit Audrey, and the rest is history. During that trip, Anthony crashed his dad’s motorcycle and Audrey had to take him to the ER. She likes to joke that that was their first date. Eventually, Audrey moved out to Chicago and they shared a tiny 700 square foot 1 bedroom, with two cats. Now they own a home together filled with many more cats!

We have a super senior kitty, Baxter who is about 20 with barely any teeth. Audrey came home and Anthony was on the couch and said “I think something’s wrong with Baxter.” Audrey came over to pick him up and found a folded up note underneath him. As she was unfolding and reading it, Anthony gets out the ring and down on one knee. The note read, “Audrey, do you want to grow old and toothless like this cat? If so, will you marry me?”
