Our Love Story

Grant and Audrey met in the summer of 2012 when they both attended Eastside’s middle school church camp. The summer after church camp they lost touch as they attended cross-town rival high schools. Two years later church again brought them together as Audrey was asked to join the youth worship band that Grant was already a part of. On their summer mission trip to Denver, Colorado they began noticing each other. On the trip Grant and Audrey were partnered together to lead a small group of Burmese refugee children, teaching them about Jesus. They’ve both admitted that seeing each other interact with those kids and teach about God’s love was the start of their journey to fall in love with each other. After the mission trip the pair spent the next few months becoming the best of friends. They would sit in the church parking lot after band practice for hours upon hours just getting to know each other, sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning on a school night (sorry Donna and Amy!). They soon realized they wanted more out of their friendship, so Grant asked Audrey to be his girlfriend on December 16, 2015! Two weeks later they said “I love you” to each other for the first time and it has been a beautiful journey ever since. They have grown together as a couple and as individuals, kicked 3 years and counting of long distance’s booty, traveled together, and have begun to build the foundation of their future. Looking back on their love story their favorite part is realizing how big a hand God had in it. In every aspect of their story He worked on them and created an incredible journey that started all the way back in middle school. Grant and Audrey are so excited to start their lives together and cannot wait to see where life takes them as husband and wife. They look forward to celebrating their new beginning with you!

The Proposal

His Point of View

I got the ring close to the middle of July and talked to Audrey's parents soon after that. When I took them out to lunch it didn't take long for them to realize why we were there. After some questions both of her parents thought I would be a pretty good choice to marry Audrey. I chose how I wanted to propose based off of a few important things to us. First we went to hope ranch, a ministry site I worked at through the church where we met. Second I used my great grandfathers Bible to read her scripture because family is so important to the both of us. Lastly we brought McAlister's because who doesn't love a good spud. Thanks to some white lies from her parents Audrey didn't suspect a thing until I stood up. My hands were shaking when I took out the Bible and I had to take a second before I could even start reading I was so exited to make this woman my fiancee. The rest is us making our history.

The Proposal

Her Point of View

Over Thanksgiving break Grant told me he wanted to take me on a picnic to Hope Ranch, a beautiful place owned by our church that Grant had spent the last few summers working at. I didn't think anything of the date for two reasons, the first being that we always tried to go on some sort of special date when we were both home at the same time. The second being that the previous summer we had tried to picnic at Hope Ranch but ultimately had to call it quits when I set off the farmhouse alarm trying to find a bathroom, so I figured this was just a much needed redo. November 21st rolled around (the day of our picnic date) and as I was getting ready I noticed my Mom casually walking by my room and bathroom throwing out her opinion on what I should wear and how I should do my hair. In hindsight Grant had asked for my parents blessing back in July and she was making sure I would be ready for pictures! Grant went to grab our lunch from McAlister's Deli and then came to pick me up and off we went! As we got to Hope Ranch we walked out to the gazebo next to the pond and talked and ate our lunch. Grants leg kept bouncing up and down but again I didn't think twice about it because it was a little chilly out that day. Suddenly he asked me if he could read me something and that's when I realized it was about to happen! He stood up, pulled his Great Grandfather Calvin's small red bible from his jean jacket and read Genesis 2: 24 which states "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh." He then got down on one knee and said "Audrey Brianne Wolf will you marry me?" and it took me about .05 seconds to jump out of my seat, hug him and say the happiest yes ever. His sweet mom and sister Holly were hiding in a tree (that they're both allergic too!) to capture the moment and get pictures the whole time. Afterwards we celebrated with our families and enjoyed the special occasion. It was the happiest day of my life.
