Through our mutual friends, we briefly met at a Freshman event at Northeastern State University. Later that night, the university was hosting a movie night. Neither of us were planning on going but ended up there by chance. Austin had even made it halfway home before he decided to turn around and attend the movie night. Who knows what the plot line of the movie was?! We talked through the whole thing. Eventually we realized that we both attended Assemblies of God churches our whole lives so we began going to church together and attending Chi Alpha together. I say that it took a little too long, but we know that it was all in God's perfect timing that we began dating on November 1, 2016.
I was so hopeful that we would get engaged in 2018 that I made it a New Years Resolution. By the time December came I was getting nervous because that was the last resolution I hadn't crossed off of my list. Austin thought it was hilarious that I had no idea when he was going to pop the question so he savored it for as long as he could. On New Years Eve 2018 he took me to The Gathering Place which is one of my favorite date spots. We walked out onto the lower dock and looked at the scenery, then he got down on a knee. After I said "YES!" he pointed to the upper dock where all of our parents and siblings were standing and cheering. It was a day I will never forget.
As we prepare for our wedding day in December, we are striving to take every step in making sure Christ is the focus of the day. We recognize that without Him, we as a couple would not work. He is the reason we are together and it is by His grace that we are able to go about our daily lives individually and together. We hope that when you come to our wedding you will feel His presence and experience why He is so important to us.
