Miranda and I met via the ever (in)famous app called Tinder. I was getting ready to start a new stage of life in Costa Rica, while Miranda was climbing the ladder at a large corporate distribution center. For our first date we met for lunch and a few drinks at Granite City, but later, that turned out to also include shopping and the movies. We just could not get enough of each other! After getting to know Miranda more, we grew closer at a rapid rate. After all, we had a timeline. I thought of canceling my flights to Costa Rica, and just not going. But Miranda supported me and my desire to go, she would not let me give up what I worked so hard for. She told me we would “figure it out” when the time came. Miranda drove me to the airport, and put me on my flight away from home. We spoke everyday, twice a day, and we eventually made it official. Dating from across the continental US was not easy, especially in the first 2 months of a relationship, but we made it work. I eventually came home, and we quite literally had to start from nothing and build a new life together. I had sold everything before I left for Costa Rica. We have since moved 4 times, endured some of life’s darkest times together, changed careers, got a puppy, and now marriage! I could not ask for a better partner in life. The time came, we “figured it out.”
