In the Summer of 2014, Kevin sold everything he owned, packed his car and drove 1,934 miles from San Diego, California to Chanhassen, Minnesota for a new job. Kevin is from Washington State and with the exception of 3 influential years living with his Grandma Lue in Ohio; grew up on the West Coast. After only 2 shorts months in Minnesota, Kevin decided it was already time to move back to San Diego. So, after securing an opportunity with Orangetheory in San Diego, Kevin began taking classes in Minneapolis to gain a better grasp on the brand before moving back. One night while Kevin was working out, Aubrey came in early to prepare to coach the next class. Kevin, from inside the studio saw Aubrey walk in and immediately thought to himself, “who is this!?” Aubrey, from in the lobby simultaneously turned to the front desk and exclaimed, “who is that!?” A few nights later, Kevin found his way into Aubrey’s class and the two officially met as “Coach Aubrey” promptly introduced herself. After class, Kevin hung around the front desk asking questions about how they did their jobs. One of the girls asked, “Why are you always asking so many questions?” Kevin replied, “I’m moving to San Diego to open a new OTF Studio and I’m trying learn as much as I can.” Suddenly, from down the hallway, the sound of a chair on rollers squealing out of the office interrupted their conversation. Everyone looked up to see Aubrey, completely leaned back, feet fully extended and still rolling out of the open office doorway down the hall. Aubrey exclaimed, “San Diego! I’ve always wanted to move there!” Aubrey and Kevin, spoke for a few minutes and talked about having coffee to discuss opportunities in San Diego. They exchanged e-mail addresses, but the two wouldn’t see each other in Minnesota again as Kevin moved back to San Diego. However, they held on to the possibility of seeing one another again someday.
After exchanging e-mail addresses, Aubrey wasted no time getting ahold of Kevin to express her interest in California. However, Kevin had already moved back to San Diego and started to work for Orangetheory Fitness Poway. Kevin would eventually pass Aubrey’s information along to Allen so that he could attempt to recruit her. Aubrey grew up in Northern Minnesota. Growing up, she felt a pull to see more of the world than her small town could offer, but her immense love of family kept her close, until college. After a few years in Montana and a trip to Southern California, Cloquet stood no chance of keeping her. In February 2015, Aubrey’s itch for adventure took over (or maybe it was the annoyance of the long winter months) and she sold everything she owned, packed her car and drove from Minneapolis to San Diego. Ask her about the drive! Back in San Diego, Allen found Kevin at the Poway studio and mentioned “Remember that coach from Minnesota named, Aubrey? She’s moving here and coming in to coach a class tomorrow!" The next day Aubrey coached and was hired. In a few weeks, Aubrey was promoted to Head Coach where she would work alongside Kevin, the Studio Manager. After a few months of flirting, the two ran the Cinco de Mayo 10K race and from there planned a day at Coronado Beach with friends - that never showed, so they spent the entire day together drinking wine on the beach. Day turned to night, drinks turned into dancing and dancing turned in a first kiss. Aubrey shouts "Wait, you like me" and Kev responds "Yeah I like you, do you like me?" On, June 6th, 2015; Kevin asked Aubrey to be his girlfriend. They spent the next 3 years falling in love, becoming best friends, adventuring together and becoming partners in life. Then on June 6th, 2018; Kevin took Aubrey to dinner for their 3 year anniversary, set up a picnic for the sunset and read her the most precious card and asked Aubrey to be his wife! Of course she said YES! - AND WE ARE SO EXCITED! A & K
