We met briefly at the start of our freshman year at Olivet Nazarene University when we were introduced to each other by Aubrey's roommate during breakfast. A few months passed with little contact, and in November we reconnected at a birthday party for our mutual friend (once again... Aubrey's roommate. Thanks, Katie!). After a couple hours of playing piano, and a couple more the following week, we began seeing each other on a regular basis until we were finally a couple. During this time Jon was introduced to Starbucks. Coffee and I are a package deal. -Aubrey I'm still holding on to the hope that she'll try water one of these days. -Jon
Given the unsurprising lack of access to pianos on a small campus, Jon and I were used to going to the prayer chapel when we wanted to play. We hadn't done so in a few months, so in early March of our sophomore year Jon asked if I wanted to go to the prayer chapel to play piano with him that night. After watching several episodes of Boy Meets World, Jon drove us to the prayer chapel while I complained about being cold. Before going inside, he asked me to close my eyes. I was guided down the center aisle, and when I opened my eyes Jon was on one knee. Around me was a circle of a dozen pink roses, and candles lined the aisle we had walked.
