The first thing you need to know about us is that we are both very awkward people. We had gone to school together but because I was a year older than Brogan, I had never really talked to him until my sophomore year/ his freshman year. I needed a homecoming date and my sister, who knew him a little bit better than I did, knew that he needed a date too. Courtney told him to ask me but he was too shy. She knew that he would be running cross country with me that year and told me to just ask him when I saw him at practice. So I asked him as soon as I saw him. He said, “Sure,” and we didn't speak for the rest of practice. I got his number from my sister and the rest is history!
I picked out the ring myself, so I already knew that Brogan was planning on proposing. The store said it would take 3-6 weeks to be sized, so of course after about 2 weeks, I tried to be prepared. Brogan and his family told me earlier in the week that our consultant no longer worked at the store and it could take longer than expected. We went to pick out our wedding venue that Saturday. I didn't think anything about it but when we got back home, Brogan ran inside first and I helped Kim, his mom, carrying a few things inside. When I walked in, there were balloons hanging from the ceiling, Brogan’s niece, Emerson, was holding a sign that read, “Will you marry uncle Brogan?”and he was down on one knee. I believe it’s safe to say I was surprised!
