It all started at Chick-fil-A — as most great love stories do, apparently. For the longest time, my sisters, Avaree and Addie, would come home and tell me about this cute guy they kept seeing there. “You need to talk to him,” they’d say. “He’s so cute.” I would laugh it off… until I found out the mysterious Chick-fil-A guy was Steven Lopez. Now, I knew Steven as the younger brother of someone I graduated with. In my mind, he was still just that — the younger brother. But somewhere between high school and that moment, he had grown into a handsome, confident man. And suddenly, the “little brother” title didn’t quite fit anymore. What I didn’t know was that he had been asking about me too. He even tried going through his older brother to see if I was single — which turned out to be a complete dead end. So he waited patiently for his moment. That moment came on May 3rd when I posted something on Facebook. He finally sent me a direct message. I remember staring at my phone thinking, “This has to be fake… who even messages on Facebook anymore?!” My sisters and I were screaming, analyzing his profile like detectives, and trying to act calm (we were not calm). A few days later, we went on our first date. From that night on, being “inseparable” just kind of happened naturally. What started as sisters playing matchmaker and a slightly suspicious Facebook message turned into the greatest blessing of our lives. We are so thankful that God’s timing was better than ours, that patience paid off, and that a simple message led us here. We cannot wait for all the days ahead — the big moments, the quiet mornings, the inside jokes, the adventures, and even the growing old side by side. From Chick-fil-A sightings to forever — we wouldn’t change a single part of our story.
