Here we go with this strange yet divine encounter. Amare and Zakiya were platonic friends for some years then brother/sister in Christ. Their friendship started in 2014 and evolved on a journey to support each other through ups/downs, breakups and the hardships of life. Never did they think that God was stirring something up as they did not look at each other with romantic interests. In fact, they were not each other's types but somehow they are each other's hype lol. Amare and Zakiya use to have very long conversations about God, life and a variety of topics for hours on the phone. One day, Amare asked Zakiya to video call for the very first time. This was the moment of the reveal. Amare said he saw a light as like a "open heaven" above Zakiya. He added it was just a different glow. Meanwhile, Zakiya heard a question in her spirit asking "Is Amare my husband? It all seemed cray, cray but they had to pray, pray. Amare was driving one day and missed his turn because Zakiya was on his mind heavily. Amare sought prayer and counsel from his Bishop and confidants then expressed his feelings to Zakiya a week later. He asked her if she felt the same as well. Zakiya denied to shut it all down because she was involved with another person emotionally. They both came to agreement that they have to seek further confirmation from God. That night, Zakiya prayed to God and asked for clarity and direction. To her surprise, Amare was in her dreams. She woke thinking this must be a psychological effect of the subconscious. A few days later, Amare asked if she received confirmation and she said no (denial again). Amare and Zakiya continued to converse until Amare mentioned that he would fall back to give Zakiya some space. Zakiya had a session with her therapist who then gave her a message from the Holy Spirit about a man of God that will come to her life. She was taken back as she knew who the therapist was referring to. On that day, she contacted Amare and told him she does not need anymore confirmation but she does need time to detach from her current situation. From there, they worked on their connection privately and started a relationship in silence until they were to a point where they were ready to tell their community. Since then it has been quite a journey of learning and embracing the beauty of what God has done. They are ready to seal this union under God with their beloved witnesses.
