Every wedding is different and a unique celebration of Love! Ciarán and Atlas are both non-binary and so the roles in this celebration are a little different than traditional weddings. There will be no Bride or Groom this time, but there are two Nearlyweds who are eager to celebrate their love with you! Atlas and Ciarán are most respectfully referred to with gender neutral pronouns (they/them/their/theirs). They request you respect their special day and refrain from using she/her pronouns in reference to either of them, in general, but especially on this special day. If you are nervous about making a mistake, we recommend just using Atlas’ and Ciarán’s names in lieu of pronouns. They understand occasionally mistakes can happen, especially when gender neutral pronouns aren’t frequently used on a daily basis. Please consider practicing ahead of the event if you’re not confident this is a request you can meet. If you make a mistake during the event, please consider correcting and continuing to de-emphasize the impact.
Atlas and Ciarán will be wearing suits, and ask their guests consider wearing fancy dress as well! Take inspiration from the lush park setting and sport botanical colors and patterns if you’re inclined! Please avoid harsh colors like black or bright red. Consider dressing in autumnal colors like burgundy, rust, brown, and forest green. The ceremony will be outdoors so please bring a layer for warmth. The Artist’s circle has paved and gravel paths throughout. Average afternoon and evening temperatures in October range from high 60’s to high 50’s. The reception dinner will be indoors in a private room.
Nope. We have intentionally limited our guest list for this event to provide an intimate mix of family and friends. We are excited to share our union with everyone, and we will have extended celebrations planned around the Thanksgiving holiday in our hometown where all are welcome!
If you’re joining us from out of town, We recommend booking your stay at the Hilton in FiDi (San Francisco’s Financial District). 750 Kearny St. San Francisco, CA 94108 This is, in our opinion, the best Hilton in town, and is very close (0.5 miles) to the Wayfare Tavern. There is a nice parking garage, and they also offer great views of downtown San Francisco! It’s located on the border of the Financial District and Chinatown! If you’d prefer different accommodations, feel free to ask us for additional recommendations.
We will not be providing a shuttle, and recommend taking advantage of the abundance of Uber and Lyft to and from the hotel, the Park and the Wayfare Tavern. If you’d rather drive yourself, there is public parking along Nancy Pelosi Drive near the ceremony location, and a paid parking garage at the recommended Hotel. There is metered street parking around the Wayfare Tavern until 9pm.
We have decided to do our intimate standing ceremony rogue style in Golden Gate Park. This means that we won’t have traditional seating provided for our guests. There are stone benches surrounding the Artist Portal where the ceremony will be held. The terrain in the National AIDS Memorial Grove varies between paved paths, gravel, and grass. There may be fallen leaves on the ground that could be slippery. There are stone and gravel steps to access the ceremony space. Though the entire National AIDS Memorial Grove covers seven acres, the ceremony will take place in the west end of the Memorial Grove. Our dinner party at the Wayfare Tavern includes elevator access to the event space.
