We do! We did! We eloped!

We had an intimate ceremony under the branches of an old oak at the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens (name?) on the 27th of May. Our daughter Eliza was in attendance as the most beautiful flower girl and Hope Johnson performed the role of officiant. It was a beautiful and warm day, kept comfortable under the shade of that old oak which dominated the sky above us and stood vigil over the proceedings offering a silent, yet profound, example of standing the test of time. We exchanged rings and shared laughter as we made our vows to one another to meet the silent challenge set by the old oak. To help make our ceremony special the staff member at the arboretum, Scott, went above and beyond to help select the perfect location, set up the table for the beautifully decorated cake (the bride’s handiwork, no less), and managed transportation for the occasion. And, to add to the memory, offered his pet chicken, named Midge, to pose for a few photos, which were captured by our wonderful photographer Jess. After the ceremony, the wedding participants popped open some champagne and decided to slip into more comfortable attire, namely inflatable dinosaur costumes. While in the more festive attire, we recreated a few memorable moments, such as the proposal, and enjoyed a few more light-hearted photographs.
