FAQs

Here are some answers to questions you may have!
Question

What should I wear?

Answer

The dress code is cocktail. Think knee-length or midi-length dresses in lightweight fabrics, and classic or linen suits. We ask that guests avoid white, cream-colored, and light green attire, as those are our wedding party colors. Dress code information from the Cathedral of St. Dionysius: "For women, please avoid wearing low-cut, open-back, high slit, or mini-length dresses. For men, please avoid wearing shorts and short-sleeves." If you need inspiration, check out this Pinterest board we created: https://pin.it/4Ym5IAjzy

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

There is no official hotel or hotel block. The ceremony and reception will both take place in the center of Athens, and you are welcome to stay anywhere you'd like. We listed trusted hotel recommendations on our Travel page. We do not recommend staying at Muse Urban Venue, due to noise from our reception and other events.

Question

How will I get around?

Answer

The Athenian version of Uber is an app called Freenow, which connects riders with licensed Taxi drivers. This is a great option for getting around town. You can also use the city's excellent metro system (which the bride and groom love). Our church and reception are in the very center of Athens, so you may even be able to walk!

Question

Why is there time between your Ceremony and Reception? What am I going to do?

Answer

Our church only performs weddings in the morning. Athens is hottest in the afternoon, so we will take a break between our ceremony at noon and our reception. Mesimeri (μεσημέρι) literally means “midday” in Greek. It refers to the quiet hours typically observed from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. You are welcome to use the afternoon to do anything you want. Take a nap! Get some rest before the party! Go see the Acropolis! Eat a gyro!
