Natalie and Josh’s journey began in July 2018 when Natalie interviewed for an athletic training position at San Diego State University. When Natalie started her job at SDSU, their connection sparked right away and they quickly became close friends. Their days were filled with tacos, laughter, and adventures, while their nights were spent dancing and enjoying live music. In June 2019, Josh left SDSU, but their friendship stayed strong. Whenever he returned to San Diego, they made sure to catch up and spend time together. In July 2021, Josh was working as a bilingual scuba instructor on the Caribbean Island of Utila. That summer, Natalie decided to visit him during her summer vacation. Originally only planning 1 week, Josh and his Utila friends convinced her to come for 2 weeks. While visiting, Josh shared his love of scuba diving with Natalie as her open water course instructor. They spent an incredible two weeks diving together and sharing their love for the ocean, including several amazing encounters with dolphins. On Natalie’s last day in Utila, Josh planned a special surprise. He drove her around the entire island, showing her its hidden gems. They sipped cocktails at Chepes Beach, enjoyed an amazing sunset at Utila Dive Center and ended the day with a romantic dinner at Mango Tango. With stunning ocean views as the backdrop, Josh confessed his feelings for Natalie and asked her to be his girlfriend. After heartfelt conversations, Natalie decided to take the leap from friends to something more. Josh returned to San Diego in September 2021, and their romantic relationship officially began. Together, they’ve created incredible memories, traveling to destinations like St. John, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Disney World, and Ensenada, among many others. On Natalie’s 30th birthday, June 21, 2024, Josh pulled off the ultimate surprise. Under the guise of a relaxing day off and a brunch outing, he whisked Natalie away on a birthday boat ride. Little did she know, the boat ride was just the prelude to a magical engagement surprise. With love and excitement in the air, Natalie said “YES!” Now, they can’t wait to say "I do" and start the next chapter of their love story surrounded by their family and friends.
