We would love to post a special shout-out to the lovely Cynthia Mae Photography for capturing our Big Day on November 6, 2021. The picture on the front of our save the date and all pictures taken on our wedding day were taken by her. We cannot wait for her to join us to capture our Big Party as well!
On July 8, 2023, we will be renewing our vows and celebrating our happily ever after with ALL of our dearest friends and family! We cannot wait to celebrate with you and welcome you into the town where we have begun building our lives together!
Last October, we decided two things. One, that we couldn't wait to get married. Two, that we needed to postpone our original idea to get married in April of 2022. Being in the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic and Abbey's crazy first year of teaching, we decided we wanted to wait until things were safer and more consistent to get everyone together. On November 6, 2021, we had an intimate wedding ceremony with our immediate family at a Lutheran church in Grand Rapids. Then, we celebrated our new marriage at a delicious Italian restaurant in town. For the rest of the weekend, we had a stay-cation at the JW Marriott. We are thrilled to officially be married!
The weekend of June 18, Alex, Abbey, and Sarah got together at Ellie and Dan's apartment. Alex and his siblings told Abbey that they wanted to check out a lavender field for Ellie and Dan to get some photos on Saturday. On Saturday morning, Alex was ready quickly and in a very sly fashion suggested to get some nice pictures together while at the lavender field. So, Alex and Abbey both decided to dress up picture-ready. Once we got there, Alex initially disappeared. Abbey had never seen anything like this up close, so she was in awe! Soon after this, Alex joined back with the group and asked Abbey to go for a walk. Then, while we were walking, he proposed! Abbey was extremely surprised and emotions began to fly as love filled the air. She said yes, of course! In the meantime, Sarah was snapping great candid photos with her camera while Ellie and Dan leapt for joy!
We met initially in the fall of 2016 at an MSU tailgate. Our mutual friend through our sorority/fraternity introduced us. The next fall, the circumstances were right and Alex excitedly asked for Abbey's phone number. We took it slow, but finally we planned out first date. For that first date, we went to a restaurant called "Mitchell's Fish Market" in Lansing, MI. We learned very quickly that we had a lot in common, but also some unique differences that balanced us out well. By early November 2018, we were "official." We've made so many beautiful memories together since then!
